HBOT Round Two

When we returned home from round one, Miranda once again plateaued.  Despite months of additional physical and occupational therapy, she would not pull to a stand on her own, cruise (walk while holding a table or other stationary object) or much of anything else beyond the ability to crawl she achieved during Round One.

She was nearly two years old.

We decided to return to Charlotte for another 40 sessions, this time over 40 days instead of 20.

Within two weeks Miranda was cruising.  By the time we returned home, she was walking.

Following this second round, a pediatric neurologist in Manhattan declared that, while still delayed, her cognitive functioning was within the range of normal.

This time my wife called Aetna to obtain some sense of their appeals process.  The agent told her that if we could prove that this helped her, Aetna would probably cover it.

We later learned that after this second round of HBOT, Miranda's Creatine Kinase level had dropped again -- into the range of NORMAL.  Tears of joy were shed.

We had evidence galore that HBOT was helping Miranda.
